COVINA – The World Wiser Sport Committee, the flagship organization for the Wiser sport worldwide, held its first inaugural ceremony on Saturday at its Covina headquarters.
The Wiser Sport, a ball team sport once played in ancient palaces and royal courts by the elite rulers, was recently resurrected from ancient times and now has more than 300 Wiser ball teams worldwide, according to committee officials. The sport, they said, involves strategy, exercise and a battle of wits.
Vic Yee of Pasadena was elected Saturday to take office as the president of World Wiser Sport Committee, officials said.
The Covina ceremony attracted Wiser sport leaders from counties including the U.S. Canada, China, Thailand, Vietnam and Paraguay.
The game earned its name from the belief that the sport enhances mental vitality and acumen.
For more information about the sport and how to participate in a local team, call the World Wiser Sport Committee at 626-966-7485 or email info@worldwisersport.org.
People of all ages and backgrounds are welcome, officials said.
